Dave Mackay

Dave has a total of 39 years experience in a wide range of drilling engineering, supervision and management positions. He has worked and lived around the world including UK, USA, Spain, Denmark, Tunisia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia, Philippines, Algeria, Dubai and Pakistan.

His broad experience includes;

  • Deepwater and ultra-deepwater explorationand development
  • HPHT drilling operations and ultra-HPHT planning
  • Subsea completions
  • DP Drillships and Semi-submersibles, moored semi-submersibles,jack-ups, platforms and land rigs
  • Remote locations; offshore and onshore including areas with severe security problems
  • Horizontal wells
  • Carbonate and H2S drilling
  • Highly environmentally sensitive locations, onshore and offshore

Dave graduated from Aberdeen University with a BSc in Engineering. Following an initial spell with Chevron UK, Dave has worked for a number of Operators around the globe both large and small. He has on a number of occasions established entire drilling teams and operations from scratch for clients with no previous experience as an Operator. In recent years Dave has specialised in the planning and operation of leading edge wells in the deepwater, ultra-deepwater and HPHT arenas. Dave is currently working on projects in Australia and the Falkland Islands.

Richard Clarke

Director
CEng, BSc (Hons), FGS, FIMMM, SPE

Over the past 39 years Richard has built up a wealth of diverse drilling and work over experience working for a number of Operators in engineering, supervisory and management positions on onshore and offshore projects in the UK, USA, Holland, Italy, Thailand, Oman, Trinidad, Pakistan, Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Poland, Colombia, Equatorial Guinea and the Falklands and has experience in most types of oil and gas exploration and development wells and rig types.

Born in Essex in the United Kingdom, Richard obtained a BSc degree in Geology from Bristol University before joining Shell International as a well site petroleum engineer in 1981. Following an initial period working on land rigs in Holland as a petroleum engineer, Richard transferred to the drilling department and worked his way up from assistant driller to drilling supervisor working on land rigs in Holland, Thailand and the Sultanate of Oman.

Following his departure from Shell in 1989, Richard has spent his career working for various oil and gas operating companies worldwide in both onshore and offshore engineering and supervisory positions including two and half years as a senior drilling supervisor on the Claymore platform for Elf Enterprise Caledonia.

Since 2016 Richard has been concentrating his efforts on managing REC Consultancy Services.

Hazel Rankin

Business Development / Consultancy Manager

Having spent over 30 years in the Oil and Gas industry, Hazel has built up a strong and extensive network of people in the well engineering field. Initially, she spent 19 years in the service department of Chevron which enabled her to witness the benefits of providing good service to both customers and clients. Following her time with Chevron, Hazel went on to work as an outplacement consultant working on various projects involving a total of 600 employees. Subsequently, she was involved with Offshore Emergency Response training and mediation before entering the recruitment field in 2006 working for a specialist recruitment agency supplying well engineering consultants globally to oil and gas operators. During this time she was headhunted by a well engineering project management company supplying complete well engineering and drilling operation teams for various projects prior to joining REC Consultancy Services.

Holly Da Silva

Consultancy Coordinator

Holly graduated in the summer of 2018 from Robert Gordons University where she obtained her honours degree in Management. While studying Holly had a part time job in the service sector for 6 years with almost 3 of those years being in a managerial role.

Within REC, Holly will be working alongside Hazel in the office by completing; CV’s, contracts, visas, work permits, data management and gaining experience within the industry.

Despite this being Holly's first full-time position within the oil and gas industry, she has previously worked for REC. In 2014, Holly completed a summer placement and from there continued to help on an ad-hoc basis to assist with workload increase and holiday cover.

Hayley Matthews

Business Administrator

Hayley recently joined the REC team in May 2021. With her previous administration experience within multiple high-pressure service environments, Hayley will bring new insight to the company. Within REC, Hayley will be dealing with invoicing, payments, and other financial responsibilities. This is her first role within the Oil and Gas sector and she’s excited to progress her learning and skills in this industry.
